Let me start by saying that the concept? I love.

Shakespeare meets the different punk genres! What is not to love?

Unfortunately, there is little to love for me in the five tales. While they successfully punk out the stories, and the Shakespearian bard is present, what is missing is the enjoyment. There is nothing good about the stories.

I started each tale and I would read, and while the world were interesting, the attempts to bring the stories to life failed. There was no life, no enticement to read. No desire to see how this story would unfold.

I read less than half of each story before giving up and moving onto the next one. Will you enjoy this? Possibly. But I would not recommend this book to anyone that I know.

I'll admit, I only read THE GREEN EYED MONSTER by S. A. Cosby because that's all I had time for this month. I read Cosby's BLACKTOP WASTELAND earlier this year, so when I learned he had an affinity for Shakespeare and wrote a "dieselpunk" adaptation of Othello, I was all in. Othello is one of my favorite of Bill's plays. The story is about a general, Othello (O) his Judas-like friend, Iago (Iggy), and Cassio (Cass) Othello's loyal friend. There are women in the story who serve as catalysts for conflict (in the play version) but are given some real depth of character by Cosby. I absolutely drooled over the dieselpunk setting with all the airships and clothing descriptions. Totally a bonus layer that lends to the cinematic quality of Cosby's writing.
This is a must-read for fans of Shakespeare and Cosby. Five stars!
I'll read the full collection someday but this year was not that year.

A modern masterclass on Shakespeare with appearances from Macbeth, Othello, and more. I really love the new takes on the classic works from various authors. I really enjoyed this book and all proceeds go to charity which make it even better.
