This was a fast read. The main character at age 13 wakes up in a hospital after an explosion with memory loss. She is sent to live in a juvenile home where she is bullied and you get bits and pieces from nightmares she experiences. The story goes on where she can't trust anyone and leaves on a cliff hanger. Can't wait to get next book to fill in all the questions I'm left with.

This was the first book that I had read by Robin Wasserman, but I loved it. J.D. wakes up to discover that she doesn't know who or where she is. She is in the hospital because of injuries she sustained in some kind of explosion. After leaving the hospital, she is placed in Chester Center for Juvenile Services where she is generally ostracized/mistreated by most of the population except for Daniel. Just as she and Daniel start to become friends, J.D.'s mother arrives, tells her that her name is Alexa, and takes her home, but when they get there, nothing seems familiar to J.D. Before long, J.D. starts to question everything including who she really is and where she belongs. This is a wonderful mystery full of suspense and questions that leave the reader wondering right along with J.D. I'm anxious to read the next book in the series.

I read this series in elementary school way back in the day. As a kid who struggles with staying interested in book this truly was the series that fully immersed me into the world and a lifetime of loving to read!

J.D. (Jane Doe) wakes up in a hospital, straped down and not knowing who she is. The doctors say that she has memory loss and that pieces will fall into place in time, but she still feels as though she is in immense danger. She makes a friend at her brief stay at a child center, but she also starts to doubt her relaity further. J.D. seems to be able to move things with an invisible force and she slips into detailed hallucinations that leave her feeling sick. She's not sure who to trust and she feels like she's running out of time.

The book was extremely fast paced and could be read easily by readers of various levels. Not much was cleared up with the ending and it's clear that the author truly wrote a serialized novel. I plan to look into the other titles in the series, but I don't necessarily feel the push to do it as soon as possible.

Suspenseful start to a trilogy (Awakening, Betrayal, Truth). A fitting first book in a series as there is a good deal of build-up leaving the reader to race for the next book to find out what happens next. Lots of questions about this “lost girl.” And, the reader gets to form the questions and discover the answers along with the main characters. Suspense, mystery, search-for-self. Do yourself a favor and get all three books at once so you can read straight through to the end!

Eh...
Trying to start writing real reviews so....
Awakening is a book about a young girl who has no idea who she is. I read the first few chapters and then got bored with it. Then I skipped to the end to see what happened (which I've never done before by the way). It just felt so...simple to me. Pretty boring really. I kinda sorta almost got into it but didn't. I went into it wanting to just read it real fast so it wouldn't be on my TBR shelf anymore. I think that's part of why I didn't like it. Still, I didn't like the main character, or the way the main character was written anyways. I felt like she didn't have any depth. She was just a body being used by the author as someone for the plot to happen to. I also just plain didn't buy some of it. Like how she had no memory but she had a voice in her head that told her what she thought. What? Sorry, not buying it. She also said things like, "I should feel hopeless right now" or "I should feel scared right now" or "this should be hopeless right now, but it's not. Isn't that weird? How weird is that!?" Of course not in those exact words.
Anyways, this is now off of my TBR shelf and onto my "Books I don't like" shelf.
Also just realized that this is my first book I've read in 2012 D: That makes me sad :( Even though I only kind of read it..
