another great read by riley sager! i really enjoyed this book and had no idea where it was going! this was a quick read, i was locked in from the very beginning.

i really liked the dual POVs of maggie and the house of horrors. it kept the book interesting.

the ending really got me.
at first i was like, “oh shit, they did that to protect maggie??? awww” then i was like “OH SHIT miss pennyface and mister shadow are real?!?!!! damnnnnn”
it was a great twist, one i was not expecting!

overall, i enjoyed this book a lot. it was quick, entertaining, and definitely spooked me!!

I thought this was super strong 3/4s of the way through, but then the gotcha twist over and over sort of lost me. Then there were some loose ends that were never touched on again. Good read, but not a book I would reread.

Oh. My. God. I’m scared. I’m heartbroken. I need to sleep with the lights on. I’m going to immediately have sleep paralysis. I’m going to kiss this book.

This was my first Riley Sager and I really liked it! The book-within-a-book theme is always fun when done well. I thought it was nice and spooky without being too over the top with lots of fun little twists and turns. Looking forward to reading more from this author!

So creepy and haunting. The atmosphere and mystery of this story is so good. I loved every part of this and all the twist were so shocking! So good. Highly recommended!
