Solid ya academia premise. I wish I read this sooner as now I'm reading so much ya I'm playing catch up. I love El's positioning in school and the relatability to real-life school. I want more between her and Orion. I remember one book community conversation between this book and The Invisibility of Addie Larue on including POC or not in books written by white people. I can now say, I liked both books and understand both points of view to include and not include POC. In this book, I'd be more pressed if no POC was included. This is due to the premise. the two stories are not the same. In an academic setting where you are inviting anyone who may have magic, there's inevitably POC. However, in Addie Larue, the story is centered on Addie who is a white woman. I don't want to ramble on that book too much in this review. I think Novik included POC as best as she could, nothing stood out to me as I read this. Though a caveat is I listened to this on audio so I'm more likely to miss something. But so far, I'm cool with it.
