Madeline Miller exceeded my expectations with this one. Circe as both character and story is lovingly rendered, and the culmination of her constant change and constant striving for more at the end of novel is more than I could have hoped for.

The perfect mix of prose and plot, you're brought lyrically through centuries and still you want to read more and more. It still didn't feel rushed, but Circe was such a well fleshed out character based on the minimal info from the classics. This story will break your heart, but you will never want to stray from Circe and her life (please do read TWs though). I may be biased, because if there are animals, witchiness, recently Greek Mythology, and monsters involved, I'm in.

This book was beautifully written, but brutally difficult to read. I'm glad I got through it, it was a fascinating story, but I'm left a bit emotionally exhausted

I wanted to like this story more than I did, and I’ll probably forget most of the plot in a matter of weeks. I wish this story had more complete world-building. Although the novel centers Circe, the side characters were significantly more interesting. The book’s biggest accomplishment is that I now want to reread the Odyssey
