Who are we kidding, everything Madeline Miller touches is gold. This is exactly how the myth of Circe deserved to be handled and I cannot imagine any other outcome. 5 stars 5 stars 5 stars!! I’m too overwhelmed to make a more comprehensive review come out in words. Just…FIVE STARS

I wanted to like this story more than I did, and I’ll probably forget most of the plot in a matter of weeks. I wish this story had more complete world-building. Although the novel centers Circe, the side characters were significantly more interesting. The book’s biggest accomplishment is that I now want to reread the Odyssey.

really liked the book. it’s greek mythology so you have to pay attention and focus. so it’s not just like a YA romance where you can just read the words. madeleine miller has such great talent for creating modern retellings. also the quotes in this book were so GOOD. if you like greek mythology i highly recommend.

This book doesn’t have much of a plot but the descriptiveness of it is just stunning. The writing feels like a warm blanket and even though some horrible things happen in this book, Circe’s inner monologue is gorgeous. Miller can really capture thoughts and emotions perfectly onto a page
