I love the themes in the book, i loved the academic setting, i think the language, translation, and magic system are cool and well thought out.

I don’t think the author developed the characters enough. I found myself rooting for their cause but not them. I could care less about the characters— just what they were fighting for. Usually when I like a character and they die im upset but I wasn’t upset at all at the deaths that happened. I like Victoire a lot and wish we had multiple POVs throughout this book besides the small glimpses we had.

this book will never not be a 5 star read for me. ever since the first time i read it i've been enamored with every aspect of the story and the characters. (i only hope those making the tv show don't botch it otherwise there will be some words to be had).
