first half of the book was absolute ass. second half...was barely tolerable. do not recommend. had some fun times toward the end, but still not fun enough to even think about without cringing

Wow this was such a great book!! It really is like the Mummy movie. The romance is very PG but you root for them. There’s a lot of surprise twists and they made me gasp out loud.  Especially at the end when I realized it’s a series and the next book is not out for a while 😒. I would like to read the next book in the series so that’s how you know it’s worth the read!

This is a mysterious and fascinating story about a young woman, her family and Egypt. The author does a great job painting the scenery and the story is elaborate. I felt like there was too much and I'm undecided whether I want to read the 2nd book and conclusion to the story. I'm wondering if maybe this type of book isn't quite my cup of tea

First off, thank you so much to St. Martin's Press for the ARC of this book. I’m so grateful and have now bought two separate editions of my own and the audiobook because I loved it so! Isabel Ibañez did such an incredible job with this novel! 🥰

I absolutely loved everything about the story. As a trained archaeologist myself, it hits very close to my heart! Inez’s strength drew me to her side and never let go. Whit’s charisma and ‘wit’ty banter had me falling right in love with him. The story was exciting, mysterious, adventurous, fun, devastating, shocking, and left me gasping for more! November won’t arrive soon enough!

I’ve really enjoyed previous work by this author, but this one didn’t do it for me. It was pitched as having The Mummy vibes, but that gave me the expectation this would be fast-paced and have a lot more action. I enjoyed the romance and the characters though. I considered DNF-ing a few hours in, and even though I didn’t, it’s a good reminder for me that it’s OKAY to put a book down. I can trust my judgement more in my 2024 reads!
