well I'm glad the book didn't take too much of a depressing turn. yes, it was definitely a heavy read but I think it ended well. However, as the novelty of the first book wore off, I found that the second book's plot didn't surprise me as much. like it ended how I thought it would end?
idk I guessed I had high expectations, I wanted more since the first book was so good.

I loved the first book in this series, but this one has a very different vibe and didn't make me feel as much.
The fantasy war aspect is the focus of this book and it didn't feel as fleshed out. What is the purpose of the gods? How do\did they influence life? What is the motivation behind Dacre except revenge? I would have liked more backstories on Enver.
Roman and Iris still write letters to each other, but these too have a different vibe and are not as touching as in the last book.
I also thought that Dacre's final battle was too easily won for Iris and Co.
I still enjoyed this and I love the writing style, but I had hoped for something different...
