This was… odd. It just kind of felt like a mess? The pacing was super choppy, the characters were flat, the romance was extremely underdeveloped, and overall I couldn’t bring myself to get invested in anything that was going on. The more I think about it, the less I like it; I guess I’ll see how I feel after sitting on this for a while longer.

I will be keeping my copy though because the cover is gorgeous lol

Loved the multiple POVs, the side characters sometimes felt more compelling than the two mains. Overall compelling and luckily fairly short, though a slight letdown after Ninth House

Set during the Spanish Inquisition in Madrid with Gothic/historical/religious vibes. The story is beautifully written and extremely atmospheric, although it started very slow and picked up some around the middle. The character names, especially the males, were a little hard to keep up with, but that may be easier in an ebook or paper copy. I thought the ending was beautiful.
