Emily Henry continues to blow me away with every book she writes I loved this so much. Daphne is me I am Daphne. I loved her and Miles so much but I loved even more watching her choose to fall in love with her town and the people in it after everything she’s been through. I giggled, I cried, I smiled like an idiot!!! Such a great read.

——— some fave quotes 💜🍋💙

"You, my girl, are whoever you decide to be. But I hope you always keep some piece of that girl who sat by the window, hoping for the best. Life's short enough without us talking ourselves out of hope and trying to dodge every bad feeling. Sometimes you have to push through the discomfort, instead of running."

"I was never the one just having fun. I was the one anticipating consequences." (emily get out of my head fr)

"I feel a bittersweetness that this moment can't last, that time will pull us along soon. But for the first time in a while, I'm excited about the unknown.
I'm looking forward to the surprises."

Oh MAN this book — and Daphne and Miles and all their issues — burrowed its way into my heart. I spent four hours reading in the sun on the dock, because I absolutely could not put it down. All of Daphne and Miles’s hardships hit deep, and watching them work through it as individuals and together… gods, it was beautiful. And I will defend them as long as I need to, because anyone who doesn’t love Miles is wrong.

Shelve this beside Book Lovers on my Emily Henry favorites list!

On the spectrum of Emily Henry, this book was closer to Happy Place than Beach Read. I really enjoyed these characters and the natural progression of the relationship from roommates to friends to lovers. Something about the end of the book/third act conflict didn’t work for me, and I think it’s the miscommunication. I also just didn’t feel satisfied at the end that issues had truly been resolved. I feel like the relationship was still fragile when the book ended. However, this book made me laugh, cry, and feel seen in a lot of ways so I still really enjoyed it overall. Peter is the worst and I love how Daphne came to her own.

I love Emily Henry's writing SO much! And even though my expectations were high this book did not disappoint. I read it all in one sitting and I loved it! This book made me genuinely laugh out loud (and I truly mean that as in I'm glad that I was home alone because if anybody had heard me reading this they would probably think I was going insane with all the high pitched laughing and squealing.)
This book also made me cry which was very unexpected. But somehow Emily Henry just knows how to push my buttons and this one in particular just hit me where it hurts. There were a couple of lines and sequences that made me put the book down and reread it a couple of times because it was just really hitting me. The way she manages to put feelings into words so accurately is truly incredible and masterful. Emily Henry is not just one of my favourite authors, she is also one of the best authors of our time and I stand by that.
The premise of this book was already very intriguing to me but of course she put her own spin to it. Somehow she manages to use tropes and clichés in a way that feels so new and fresh. She writes about imperfect people who you still root for because of how human they are in their mistakes. This novel was phenomenal and a clear 5 star read like all her other books. I haven't yet found any other author that doesn't have a single book that was a miss or at least not a clear 5 star read. Emily Henry clearly never misses though.
