A cute palette cleanser book. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is one of my favorite stories and was used as the inspiration for this story. I appreciated the author’s use of contemporary realities in this story but I was hoping for something more whimsical like that of Charlie’s story. I also struggled with understanding what the target audience is for this book; at times it feels middle grade and other times young adult as well as adult. The romantic elements were a nice add but seemed immature for characters at their age. Overall, would recommend.
