Got half way through and realized I didn't care about any of the characters. I found it was dragging and was wishing the author would get to the point.

Okay... I’ve been thinking about this review since I was half way through the book. And here was the thought that I had “wow, this book really is intriguing. I hope that she can keep up with the momentum here.” And... unfortunately she didn’t. It was entertaining, different, and over all quite a clever idea for a book. But my heavens, boy did it drag on. I NEVER skip forward in a book. And I did in this one. It got boring! The same thing chapter after chapter. I got the picture! And then the ending was just okay. So I say the book was good enough to finish, a fun one to discuss. A clever concept. But there’s a lull in the middle you have to get through. Not my fav. Oh, I also didn’t really love any of the characters. So I wouldnt say it was a character driven book either. You won’t be worse off for reading this book, but it won’t change your life either.

I loved this book at the start but
her intimate relationship with Luc
kind of derailed things for me. By the end I was more convinced of the fact that
Addie WASN'T human anymore and it put her relationship with Henry in an odd light
. I think I somehow wanted more sacrifice from her? I don't know.
As far as the writing goes, sometimes it felt like it was trying a bit too hard with its embellishments?
I still enjoyed it overall though, good world building!
