I liked the twist though the ending seemed lack luster. The whole time I was guessing if it was the wife or husband. I was just disappointed in the ending.

It was... okay. Maybe this is just because I do love the film adaptation, but to me it does the characters much better. Nick and Amy feel much more nuanced in the film, while here the couple feel like caricatures of people.
Flynn's style is what kept me reading. It's so fluid that I didn't realize I had read 150 pages in one sitting.
Overall, it's fine I guess.

I liked this book in the beginning....but as it got toward the end it just kept dragging on...and on....and ON! I ended up skimming through the last 50 or so pages just so I could be done with it and move on. I don't do that often. I really grew to hate Amy. And because I hated her so much I hated the ending. I give it two stars not because I hated Amy---characters are what MAKE a story (it drives me nuts when people say they hate a book because they hate a character). The stars were because of the second half of the storyline and the crappy ending.

As I go to endless rounds of parties and bar nights, perfumed and sprayed and hopeful, rotating myself around the room like some dubious dessert.
I waited patiently – years – for the pendulum to swing the other way, for men to start reading Jane Austen, learn how to knit, pretend to love cosmos, organize scrapbook parties, and make out with each other while we leer. And then we’d say, Yeah, he’s a Cool Guy.
Tampon commercial, detergent commercial, maxipad commercial, Windex commercial. You’d think all women do is clean and bleed.
Nick and I fit together. I am a little too much, and he is a little too little. I am a thornbush, bristling from the overattention of my parents, and he is a man of a million little fatherly stab wounds, and my thorns fit perfectly into them.
Although I've watched the movie when it first came out, I've just picked up the book, and I wish I had done it sooner!
Very well written with the suspense, intrigue and dread building on as you progress into the story.
I practically flew through the book.
Highly recommend !
