A slim book with a long list of trigger elements.

I've no clue on what made me read this. I don't claim to have understood the book perfectly. But I know I hated the douche-bag men and could sympathize with the sister. The familial relationships were so disturbing, I hope that's not the norm of the Korean society. I'm also really surprised at how badly their society seems to treat their vegetarians. Lots of stronger elements beyond these, and each one added a sense of foreboding to the tale.

But beyond that, I don't really understand it, so I'm refraining from rating. Hope to understand the deeper nuances at a later point in life.

Das war echt verstörend. Auf einer guten Art und Weise. Dieses Buch ermöglicht eine Vielzahl von Deutungen und lässt das Gefühl in einem Selbst aufkommen, dass man unzählige Metaphern nicht verstanden oder gar gefunden hat. Es ist aufjedenfall etwas, was man erstmal verdauen muss um es dann stückweise verstehen zu können. Han Kang legt uns eine Welt dar, die uns zugleich bekannt als auch fremd ist, denn nach ihr ist ein Mensch zu sein zugleich auch grausam zu sein. Ich habe mir nach beenden dieser Geschichte weitere Rezensionen und Diskussionen um dieses Buch zur Hilfe gezogen und verstehe nun, dass mein Wissen über die Gesellschaft in Südkorea unzureichend ist, um die tiefste, wahre (falls diese überhaupt existiert) Bedeutung dieser Perspektiven und versteckten Wahrheiten zu verstehen. Jedoch konnte ich einen Einblick erhaschen, mithilfe eines wunderschönem, schaurigem Lesererlebnis, den ich noch nie zuvor erleben durfte.
