The worst part of every Emily Henry novel is when it’s over and you’re left missing the characters and the story. This is perfect, what a genius unique spin on roommates/fake dating. The story is incredible, the characters and wonderfully real and flawed and nuanced, even the side characters, and I don’t have a single complaint except that it’s over and I’m sad.

Daphne always loved the way Peter told their story. Until it became the prologue to his actual love story with his childhood bestie, Petra. Daphne ended up rooming with her total opposite and the only person who could possibly understand her predicament: Petra's ex, Miles. One night, they formed a plan to deliberately mislead people by posting their adventures together. But it was all just for show, right?
As with her previous books, I was nervous getting into this one because most of Emily Henry’s past books were 5-star reads for me. So after closing the final page, I’m glad to say that this again managed to win my heart! This had the right balance of quirks and sweetness. And the banters were first class, as always! The title and the super cute cover design packaged the entire book perfectly for me, with cherry on top.
I loved how this book started with the two main characters seeing each other at their worsts. The plot grabbed my attention from the first page and I was fully invested throughout. IMHO, Miles was the Cinderella in this relationship, as he transformed from the mopey, grubby, bonghead version into the independent, strong and kind person he was.
I also loved how Daphne and Miles didn’t need to change themselves to fit into each other’s expectations. They were just perfect for each other, and it was so fun to watch their chemistry grew organically through their interactions.
I couldn’t fault anything in this book, and this has now become my favourite Emily Henry book to date (I have read her entire backlist).
